Dave Hales and his wife have been proud Nevada residents since 2010. Before moving to Nevada, Hales served in the US Air Force and built a successful business in Hawaii, which he subsequently moved to Nevada. He was appointed to serve on the Hawaii Science and Technology Council, and also co-founded the Ohana Matters Educational Foundation, a non-profit focused on providing opportunities, scholarships and mentors for promising students from under-served communities in Hawaii and Southern Nevada.

Since 2013 Hales has served on the President's Advisory Board for the College of Southern Nevada-Cheyenne campus. He also completed an MA Economics degree at UNLV in 2015. As a graduate student at UNLV he published research and taught recitation sections. Through these and other related experiences, he has gained invaluable first-hand insights into how to properly fund and support public school initiatives.

As the CEO and co-founder of a financial services company (Global Fidelity Corp.), Hales leads a team of 45 located in several countries, where they serve US military members stationed in Japan, Korea, Germany, and Spain. Over the years they have successfully served 53,000 clients, with a total historic business volume now in excess of $2 billion.

In addition to his business responsibilities, Hales also serves as a colonel in the US Air Force Reserves. While on active duty he served as a field commander in Afghanistan, and as a staff officer in the US Embassy in Iraq. These leadership experiences and demonstrated problem-solving abilities will complement the diverse backgrounds of the other members of Nevada Board of Education.
